Navarathri and Diwali are just around the corner, and along with the joy of spending valuable time with friends and family over traditional feasts and sweets, it brings with it the excitement of significant festive-time purchases!
According to the Hindu calendar, festivals are a favourable time to start something new, and Vijayadasami, Danteras and Diwali day are considered the most auspicious days in the second half of the year to make one of the biggest purchases that is made in one’s lifetime, real estate or property.
Vijayadasami marks the end of the 9-day festival of Navarathi and is celebrated grandly all over India. Observed for different reasons in different parts of the country – be it Goddess Durga’s victory over buffalo Demon Mahishasura, God Rama’s triumph over 10-headed Demon King Ravana, or Arjuna’s defeat of the entire Kaurava army, Vijayadasami universally symbolises the victory of good (dharma) over evil (adharma).
As is seen from these epic stories, the day of Vijayadasami is said to bring ‘vijaya’ or victory, and is considered one of the best days to start a new venture for a successful outcome. Many people start their new business, buy a new vehicle, or make real estate investments on this pious day.
Dhanteras, also known as Dhanatrayodashi or Dhanvantari Trayodashi, marks the first day of the 5-day festival of Diwali. In some parts of India, this day holds more importance than the actual day of Diwali and the main deities worshiped on this day are Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity; Kuber, the God of wealth; and Ganesha, the Lord who ensures favourable beginnings.
Dhanteras is an auspicious muhurta and also the day that many business communities in India begin their financial year. Furthermore, in Hindi, ‘dhan’ means wealth and such a day is definitely the opportune time in the year for investing in precious metals, like gold and silver, and property.
Diwali is one of the most important festivals celebrated in India, symbolising the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. It holds a lot of significance for the home – people clean or renovate their houses and decorate the interiors and exteriors with small lamps called ‘diyas’.
The Festival of Lights is surely the perfect occasion to make a property purchase to bring light and good fortune into your home and family. It is believed that major purchases like gold and property made during the shubh muhurta (auspicious time) on Diwali will multiply tenfold.
While these auspicious days are a great time to invest in a home, one must do in-depth research before sealing the deal. Many real estate companies roll of discounts and offers around this time to attract buyers, and it is of utmost importance to deal with reliable property developers.
